Privilege and confidentiality, stated plainly
ahsk transcribes audio in the cloud via Whisper and does not store recordings; your dictionary and corrections stay on your device. That is more private than a shared transcription service and less private than on-device software. Whether it is acceptable for privileged material is a question for your firm's policy, and you should ask it before dictating anything sensitive. For correspondence, memos and everything that is not privileged, it is the fastest way to write.
Names, courts and terms of art
Put the parties, the court, the judge and your firm's style of citation into the dictionary once. Correct a term after pasting and ahsk learns it. "Inter alia" and "estoppel" come out as written; "Ms. Okonkwo-Reyes" comes out as she spells it.
Letters that come out as letters
Set the voice mode to Formal or Mail and a single held key produces a letter with paragraphs, a salutation and a close. Dictate the memo section by section with hands-free; tap fn, talk, tap again. No transcriptionist, no next-day turnaround.
Windows at the office, iPhone in the taxi
Most firms run Windows and most dictation apps are built for the Mac. ahsk's Windows build is the same product: Ctrl + Win, say it, it is typed into Word, Outlook or iManage. Is ahsk suitable for privileged material?
Audio goes to the cloud for transcription and is not stored, but ahsk is not on-device software and offers no confidentiality agreement. Check your firm's policy before using it for privileged content; use it freely for everything else.
Does it work with iManage, NetDocuments or Clio?
ahsk types at the cursor, so it works in any text field of any of them, with nothing to install on the DMS side.
Is transcription on-device?
No. Audio is transcribed by Whisper large-v3 in the cloud and is not stored. Your dictionary and learned corrections stay on your device. If your work must never leave the machine, ahsk is the wrong tool and we would rather say so than pretend.
